Subscriber Preferences
See what's new @ beehiiv...
Happy Thursday, Tyler here π.
Introducing Subscriber Preferences β the easiest way to create unique experiences for your readers.
This highly requested feature simplifies building a world-class email program like never before.
Subscriber Preferences
As your newsletter grows and evolves, giving readers the ability to update their preferences is key to keeping them engaged and reducing churn.
For example:
If you host events β readers can opt-in to receive emails specifically about upcoming events, preventing uninterested readers from unsubscribing.
If you have multiple newsletters β readers can easily browse and select which ones they want to receive.
If you send a daily newsletter β readers can choose to receive just one edition per week, helping to prevent them from unsubscribing entirely.
Managing an evolving set of preferences can be a challenge, but with our new Subscriber Preferences feature, it's all handled seamlessly right out of the box.
To get started, head over to Subscribers β Preferences and begin setting up the options you want to offer your readers.
Creating a new preference is simple, with various input methods to choose from. Plus, you can easily rearrange and edit the preferences to display them exactly as youβd like.
Now, when readers manage their subscription on your website, they can effortlessly update their preferences. The brand-new preference center allows them to:
Change their email address
Edit their name and other custom fields
Update their preferences
Opt-in or out of your other newsletters
Review their previous billing receipts
Downgrade or unsubscribe
Each subscriber preference is automatically synced to a custom field, making it easy to use automations, segmentation, and other beehiiv features to create personalized reader experiences.
For example, letβs say that you added a preference option for readers to receive just one newsletter per week instead of five. You could:
Create a dynamic segment consisting of subscribers who have selected that as their preference.
Exclude this segment when sending your daily newsletters.
Include this segment when sending your weekly edition.
The result? A more personalized experience for your readers β¨.
Live Subscriber Count
Thereβs nothing like social proof! Now, you can showcase your real-time subscriber count for all the world to see ποΈ.
Simply use the {{active_subscriber_count}}
merge tag to pull in the most up-to-the-minute count and display it in your emails and posts.
For example, we just did a bit of summer cleaning β and youβre one of 278,390 subscribers on this list π.
