New subscriber insights just dropped

Event tracking, location data, smart nudges, and more.

Happy Wednesday! Absolutely no code freeze over here at beehiiv...as this is part one of a double-header of product updates slated for this week. That's rightβ€”we've got a BIG time drop coming on Friday.

But as for today, I'm excited to share a lot of great updates with you all...

πŸ•ΊπŸ½ New subscriber pageβ†ͺ️ Smart Nudge☁️ API v2 🧬 Custom header CSSπŸ“‹ Customizable subscribe forms

πŸ•ΊπŸ½ New subscriber page

The all new subscriber page is more than just a facelift...

Events tab

The events tab gives you granular insight into each action taken by any given subscriber. The primary events tracked are: delivered, opened, clicked, blocked, and reported spam.

Each event is accompanied with a timestamp to provide you the most precise data, and you can "double click" (πŸ˜‰) into clicked events to see the specific links.

Location data

The location of each subscriber is now updated in the map UI with each subsequent email event, meaning you'll always be shown the most recent location.

Coming very soon: we will make location data an available filter via segmentation to unlock location-based cohorts.

β†ͺ️ Smart Nudge

By default, new subscribers who join via referral are required to confirm their email (to ensure they are legitimate).

You also have the ability to toggle on Double Opt-In, requiring all new subscribers to confirm their email (which leads to a higher quality list).

All of these new subscribers sit in a pending state until their email is confirmed...

So we're introducing Smart Nudge which will automatically trigger a reminder confirmation email 48 hours later.

You can find this in your settings under Publication β†’ General.

☁️ API v2

Two weeks ago we announced our newly revamped API functionality and soft released to our enterprise users.

Today we're announcing it's available to all users on any paid plan! You can view the full documentation here: developers.beehiiv.com

We also invested a ton of time into building a host of integrations with our friends over at Make. For a full overview, along with an integration tutorial, visit the link below to get started and tap into the power of the new API πŸ‘‡πŸ½.

🧬 Custom CSS header

While our design lab and template editor are pretty dang flexible, we know we can't provide every email layout known to man inbox. So we introduced the ability to add custom CSS classes in the header of your template.

This in combination with custom HTML blocks (paid plans only) provides you the ultimate flexibility to style your newsletter as far as your HTML skills can take you.

Just visit the Design Lab β†’ Email Header β†’ Miscellaneous in your settings.

Note: adding custom CSS and HTML blocks should be reserved for advanced users who have experience doing so within email and can thoroughly test their templates across mail clients. While default beehiiv styles are ensured to render properly, it's your responsibility to test templates using custom code.

πŸ“‹ Customizable subscribe forms

Upon popular demand from our international users, you can now edit the placeholder text in the external subscribe forms.

And for our english-speaking users, you can change the default Enter your email text to whatever your heart desires ❀️‍πŸ”₯.
