Text Editor: Upgraded ✅

The best editor in email just got a whole lot more powerful.

Happy Monday!

One of our primary goals as a company is to help you build and create beautiful newsletters with ease.

So today we’re announcing another round of powerful updates to our editor, to give you more control and flexibility than ever before…

⛓ Grouping sections

The editor is made up blocks of content—whether it’s a block of text, an image, list, header, poll, etc.

With our most recent round of updates, you can now highlight and group several blocks of content into a single section. This unlocks a ton of functionality that we’ll dive into momentarily.

In the example above I highlighted the title of the story, the accompanying image, and the block of text below the image. By clicking the 6 dots on the left, I can choose to Group to section to bind them together.

I’ll do the same to the story below, creating two distinct story sections.

🎨 Visual settings

Now that I have my two story sections, I can utilize the new Visual settings to create a distinct style for each of these stories.

By clicking the 6 dots and choosing Visual settings I can edit two things:

  • background color

  • text color

In the example below, I’ll keep the text color the same, but edit the background color to a light teal.

And for the second story, I’ll add a dark background and change the font to a light gold color.

👁 Visibility

By default, all content will display in both email and on the web. However with today’s updates, you can now toggle the visibility of any section or block to display only in select platforms.

For example, I’ve added this bonus cities section that I only want my web readers to have access to (perhaps my newsletter is getting a bit too long).

By clicking the 6 dots, then Visibility, I can toggle off the visibility in email. You’ll notice the section now has a “hidden” icon to the top right indicating that I’ve altered my visibility settings.

Note: the visibility settings apply to individual blocks of content, not just the new section feature.

Pro tip: this allows you to add content that doesn’t work in email (audio players, subscribe forms, etc.) and select the visibility to only show on web.

And yes, before you smash that reply button to ask, we will soon be rolling out visibility settings for you to only show content to:

  • paying subscribers

  • subscribers exceeding X referrals

🔼 Drag and drop

Upon popular request, we have brought back drag and drop to the editor.

You can now drag and drop any block or section by clicking and holding the 6 dots, then dragging the content wherever you want.

➕ Easy add

The other major point of feedback we received regarding the new editor was the difficulty of adding new blocks in-between non-text elements.

So we added a + button to the left of every block (and section) that will automatically create a new block underneath.

And the final product of the email…

Expect a ton of additional updates to the editor over the next few weeks, as we have a lot more in the works 🫡 . As always, let us know if you have any feedback or encounter any bugs with the release.
