Back when I was an engineer at Morning Brew, I spent so much time building custom features for our website.

With today’s update — these features are now available completely out of the box for all of you to take advantage of.

Post likes, comments, and sharing

Your readers can now like individual posts by simply tapping the heart icon located to the left of the screen (or at the bottom on mobile).

This feature helps writers identify content that resonates with their audience and is deemed valuable and engaging.

We also launched several updates to comments.

You can now:

• Like and reply to individual comments

• Enhance comments with markdown

To put these updates to the test, on Monday we experimented hosting an AMA (ask me anything) forum in the comment section… on the recently relaunched Creator Spotlight. With some intentionality, comments can really build and strengthen the community of your readership.

Note: Comments are not enabled by default in your account, but you can toggle them on in your settings here.

In addition, we've significantly enhanced the flexibility and options for sharing your content on social channels and platforms.

Readers can now seamlessly share your content to their network via email, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Reddit, or WhatsApp.

Coming soon:

• Displaying likes and comments on the homepage and archive

• An improved recommendation algorithm based on engagement

Editor updates

As you're well aware, our team consistently rolls out updates to enhance your writing experience in the editor. Today, we're excited to share three notable additions.

• More column flexibility

More column flexibility

Last year we launched the ability to create sections with two-columns, as featured in the Top Boosts of the Week section found lower in this email below.

The expected behavior was two side-by-side columns that would collapse on smaller screens. With today’s update you can now:

• Create up to three columns side-by-side

• Toggle off auto-collapse on smaller screens

Tables

Due to popular demand, we're introducing an email-friendly table feature, enabling you to build and create tables directly within the editor.

You can also visit the Design Lab and create custom default styles (sizing, colors, padding, etc) for the table.

New CTRL+A functionality 😏 

Previously CTRL+A would highlight and select all content within the editor. Now it’ll just highlight and select the individual node you are currently working within. You’re welcome.

Pro Tip: You can hit CTRL+A a second time to highlight the entire section, and a third time to highlight all of the content in the editor.

Breadcrumbs

All webpages now have breadcrumbs enabled by default, located at the top of each page. Breadcrumbs offer significant SEO benefits for your website:

• Increased crawling — Internal links generated by the breadcrumbs expose all levels of the hierarchy to search engine crawlers.

• Better indexing — This results in an increase in valid URLs in Google Search Console and faster indexing speed.

• Improved ranking — Breadcrumbs strengthen the internal link architecture and include keywords above the fold.

Note: If, for some reason you’d like to disable breadcrumbs, you can update your settings here.

beehiiv Partner Program
