Meet the New Website Builder
Introducing a new era of powerful, flexible, and beautifully crafted websites.
Last June, we acquired Typedream, an AI-powered website builder.
Since then, we’ve kept things (mostly) under wraps. But we’ve been working tirelessly behind the scenes to integrate the best of Typedream into beehiiv’s web builder experience. The goal was simple: to empower our users with the tools to create their dream website in under 10 minutes.
And after seven long months, I’m thrilled to announce the beta launch of our brand-new website builder.
Why beta?
It’s not perfect—yet. We’re still ironing out minor bugs and preparing for the unexpected edge cases that will surface as our users put the builder to the test. The focus was on making the new website builder as robust and versatile as possible, and there’s no substitute for hands-on feedback from our power users.
That's the disclaimer I promised the team I’d share…but don't let the “beta” discourage you. It's beautiful, powerful, and capable of building some tremendously unique websites.
Let me show you how 😏
Redefining What's Possible
Each website below was built using beehiiv’s new website builder…
…all without writing a single line of code. That’s right: absolutely no coding required. If you can dream it, you can build it on beehiiv.
The new website builder allows you to drag and drop sections, headers, containers, widgets, animations, and more…then customize each element down to the last pixel.
The flexibility doesn’t stop at design; it extends into the core functionality of your site. You can now:
Create multiple landing pages to test and optimize performance.
Integrate lead magnets into bespoke automated journeys.
Design different welcome flows for new readers.
Organize pages into nested directories for intuitive navigation.
Effortlessly collect and showcase reader testimonials.
And that’s just the beginning. Make an impression that lasts with a beautiful, functional new website.
Getting Started
The new website experience is entirely opt-in. Here’s what that means:
You can continue to use the legacy website builder for as long as you’d like.
You can experiment with the new website builder at your own pace and publish (i.e., go live) whenever you’re ready.
You can easily switch back to your old website if you encounter any unexpected issues.
Currently, the beta is available exclusively to users on our Max and Enterprise plans. This approach lets us prioritize feedback from our power users before rolling it out to all users after the beta period.

To get started, navigate to Design → Website (Beta)
With our streamlined onboarding process, you’re only three easy steps away from a world-class website:
Choose your template.
Choose your theme.
Choose your fonts.
Once you’ve finished onboarding, you’ll land in our new website builder with a handful of prebuilt pages and widgets. From there, you can customize, edit, or expand to your heart’s content.
Note: When using templates, some pages come pre-populated with "placeholder data.” You can simply toggle that off to view your actual content and data.
Pages, Layers, and More…
If you have experience with modern website builders, you may already be familiar with these concepts. But consider this a quick 101 on how to navigate the new website builder…
Pages
Pages are the individual web pages that make up your website. By default, you’ll have a handful already built for you, like the home page, subscribe page, and author page.
You can disable pages you don’t need, create new ones, and fully customize existing pages to fit your vision.
Layers
Each page is made up of layers — think of these as the building blocks.
Click Insert in the navbar to add additional elements like:
Layouts: Sections, containers, columns, and dividers.
Widgets: Posts, images, buttons, subscribe forms, etc.
Text: Paragraphs, headers, and more.
With much more coming soon…
We’ve also included prebuilt templates with common layouts to simplify the page-building process.
Prebuilt hero sections
You can drag and drop these anywhere on the page.
Customization
Each of these building blocks has its own customizable attributes, accessible from the right navbar. For example:
Text: Adjust the font, color, format, alignment, padding, line height, size, and more.
Buttons: Customize the padding, text, borders, colors, hover effects, and more.
You get the gist. Simply click to highlight an element and customize each attribute to achieve your desired look.
Modals
Modals are widgets that pop up on the screen when a specific action is taken (e.g., when a visitor logs in or subscribes). You can build and customize modals to engage visitors as they interact with your site.
Navbar and Footer
Both the navbar and footer are now fully customizable. Adjust styles, functionality, responsiveness, and more to suit your needs. You can even disable the navbar or footer on specific pages.
Note: The beta is currently only available to users on our Max and Enterprise plans. This allows us to prioritize feedback from early users before granting broader access after the beta period. You can learn more and/or upgrade here.
Advanced Settings
In the top right corner, you'll find the website settings, where you can access a ton of more advanced functionality. This is where you’ll go to:
Update website metadata and SEO settings.
Add your tracking and advertising pixels.
Edit and update your website themes.
Build custom signup flows (you can now create multiple signup flows based on how readers subscribed).
Create custom redirects.
Configure various website settings.
Video Tutorials
Sometimes, it’s just a whole lot easier to see the tool in action. Here’s a video tutorial that does just that 👇️
You can also join us for a live webinar this Thursday (1/23) at 2:00 PM ET, where we’ll walk through the new website builder and answer any questions you have. RSVP here.
And if you can't make this event, don't worry—we'll be hosting additional sessions in the coming weeks.
Note: The beta is currently only available to users on our Max and Enterprise plans. This allows us to prioritize feedback from early users before granting broader access after the beta period. You can learn more and/or upgrade here.
