Custom Paywalls

With beehiiv, launching and scaling paid newsletters is effortless, allowing you to collect revenue directly from your subscribers.

You have full control over what you offer to your paying readers. Popular perks include: exclusive content, access to private communities, weekend editions, and IRL events.

With custom paywalls, you can easily create, test, and swap out different paywall variations to boost conversions.

To get started, head to your Paid Subscription Settings and create a new paywall. From there, you can customize both the content and design to fit your brand.

There are two primary ways to leverage paywalls:

1. Paid-only content: The entire post is gated and available exclusively to paying subscribers. Non-subscribers will see a paywall prompting them to upgrade for access.

2. Paywall breaks: Insert paywalls strategically within the content, encouraging free readers to upgrade in order to continue reading.

When publishing a post exclusively for paying subscribers (option 1) you can select your default paywall in the Audience tab while creating the post.

For newsletters sent to both free and paid readers with a paywall break midway through (option 2), choose the paywall directly within the editor.

All subscriber upgrades are tracked and attributed to specific posts, giving you the ability to analyze conversions on a post-by-post basis in your Paid Subscription Dashboards.
